Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ35

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ35 ($399.95 list) is a compact camera with a 12.1 megapixel CCD optical sensor and a 27 millimeter wide-angle Leica DC Vario-Elmarit lens with an 18x optical zoom. Looking very similar to the lot of D-SLR-like cameras out there, this shooter comes with a pop-up flash and 2.7-inch LCD display and even an optical viewfinder.

Design and Features
Taking on the black frame of most D-SLR cameras, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ35 just about has room for its large 27 millimeter lens up front and an extended shutter area with rubber grip. Up top is where you'll find the pop-up flash and standard controls. The back end houses its 2.7-inch LCD display and optical viewfinder just above it among standard controls, a rubber grip and a record button. Yes, the Lumix DMC-FZ35 can record 720p HD video through the AVCHD Lite format. It also has a stereo mic, which uses the Dolby Digital Stereo Creator.
Inside, users can take advantage of Creative Movie Mode, a feature in which the aperture and shutter speed can be adjusted for video recording. However, the process can also be automated through the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ35's iA mode for movies. This camera can start up in 1.2 seconds and can fire five consecutive shots at 2.3 frames per second in full 12.1 megapixel resolution.
This camera's 27 millimeter Leica lens can extend from wide-angle to 486 millimeter telephoto thanks to Panasonic's Power O.I.S., or optical image stabilization. Finally, the My Color Mode in the Lumix DMC-FZ35 allows you to freely adjust color saturation and brightness before shooting.
