HTC Status (AT&T)

The Android-based HTC Status, America's first "Facebook phone," opens up a big social world through too tiny a window.

Nokia X7

The Nokia X7 is one of the front-runners of Symbian Anna, a major overhaul bringing portrait QWERTY input, improved browser and a refreshed design to the Symbian^3 platform. But the X7 is also a media-centric device with a premium feel and a 4-inch AMOLED screen. It's also one of the latest high-end Nokia handsets running Symbian

The processor used by Nokia is an N8-ish ARM11, clocking in at 680MHz

Samsung Dart SGH-T499 (T-Mobile)

The Samsung Dart's feature set would have been fine two years ago, but now there's virtually no reason to choose it over other phones in T-Mobile's lineup—even free ones.

Front

The Samsung Dart SGH-T499 measures 4.1 by 2.4 by 0.5 inches (HWD) and weighs 3.8 ounces.

Back

The Dart's 3-megapixel camera has no flash or auto-focus. Test photos were a disappointment, with considerable graininess even in well-lit interior rooms, and overexposed outdoor shots with blown out highlights and just average detail resolution.

Right

The Dart is made entirely of plastic, with a matte dark grey underbody and a black front panel.

Angle

The Dart's 3.1-inch plastic capacitive touch screen sports just 240-by-320-pixel resolution. That breaks many third-party Android apps and makes it tougher to navigate Android’s various scrolling menu panels.

Motorola XPRT (Sprint)

The Motorola XPRT offers a decent array of business features that add up to a solid, if not spectacular, enterprise Android smartphone.

Motorola i412 (Boost Mobile)

The Motorola i412 is a decent push-to-talk phone for users looking to save a buck on Boost, but there are better options out there.

The Motorola i412 has electric blue plating for some visual interest.

Motorols i412 is a iDen-based phone, comes with flip style and numeric keypad and support PTT-walky talkie functions serviced by carrier. It also comes with iTap techno to help user send text messages in a flash format.

LG Genesis (U.S. Cellular)

The hulking LG Genesis offers U.S. Cellular subscribers more screen and keyboard real estate than any other Android smartphone, but it's not without issues.

Nokia N97 mini (Unlocked)

The Nokia N97 mini is an improvement over the original N97, and the free Ovi Maps GPS app rocks. But there's still not enough here to pull U.S. buyers away from other smart devices.

Open

The N97 mini's QWERTY keyboard is a pain to get out. But once you do so, you've got yourself a nifty little mini-laptop, thanks to the tilt mechanism.

Back

The back panel features a 5-megapixel camera sensor with a Carl Zeiss lens, and a surprisingly powerful dual-LED flash.

Front

The Nokia N97 mini is a small but solid improvement over the original N97, and now looks sleek enough to take on an Android phone.

Side

The right side contains a camera shortcut button and a volume rocker switch.

Colors

The N97 mini (which comes in three colors) runs Symbian Series 60 5th Edition; it's looking more and more dated, though that's mainly because Nokia is trying too hard to turn it into a touch screen OS.
